Terms Description
Internet The global network of computers, equipment, and infrastucture that allows us to share information.
World Wide Web The subset of the internet that deals with web sites and hosting.
Client The computer from which you are view the web page. Can also refer to applications on the local computer, i.e. the actual browser, a "thin" client.
Server The "big" computer that "serves" up the web page. The computer hosting the web pages. If you are creating and viewing web pages on your local computer, then that computer is acting as both the client and server.
Upload The process of transfering files from the client to the server.
Download The process of transfering files from the server to the client.
